Forms

Many business processes begin with an electronic form to collect data.  The Microsoft Office System 2007 provides several ways to collect and inact with form data.  BPFAST LLC specializes in using the following techniques:

  • SharePoint List Forms
  • SharePoint Data Forms
  • InfoPath 2007 Forms
  • Access 2007 Forms
  •

    SharePoint List Forms

Windows SharePoint Services stores data in lists including lists of documents, tasks, events, and custom lists that you can create to contain your own information.  Every SharePoint list incudes a set of forms for adding and editing information. If your form data is fairly simple, with limited validation requirements, using the built in list forms may be the fastest way to get a process started.

    SharePoint Data Forms

SharePoint Data Forms are useful when you want to update list items displayed in web parts on a SharePoint page. This capability allows you update a detail data web part that is connected to another web part containing a list of items to select from.  This approach can also be used to allow you to update one or two columns on a web part that contains a grid of several columns.

    InfoPath 2007 Forms

InfoPath 2007 will be the tool of choice for collecting and working with data for many business process automation projects. It provides a wealth of validation and business rule capabilities, is easy to work with, and integrates very well with SharePoint.  SharePoint and InfoPath together are a powerful combination.

    Access 2007 Forms

The 2007 version of Microsoft Access represents the beginning of a new era for the much maligned database product.  Access has always had robust form design features, but the data behind the form was typically stored within Access one client computer and limited to use by one user.  Access 2007 can now easily store data in SharePoint on a server where many people can view or edit the data within SharePoint.  Access 2007 gives you the best of both worlds:

    1. A robust client data management tool with forms, queries, and reports
    2. And when integrated with SharePoint, a powerful web based collaboration tool with data views, web forms, and workflow.
